Notes:

Frodo, without the longevity of the ring looks older than he had in the main storyline, where his tween appearance was preserved well into his fifties. However, he is still quite fair, a queerness the Hobbiton folk attribute to his being more Brandybuck then Baggins; as all know the folks in Buckland aren't normal. He has been rather well versed in the language of elves, thanks to Bilbo's diligent teachings, and has been named Elf-friend by Gildor who happened across the hobbit in his younger days when he would roam the Shire beneath the stars. It may be this attribute that started the rumours of his queerness, for elf-friends have a strangeness about them that many can sense.

Sam has been Frodo's manservant as well as gardner since Bilbo's departure as Frodo needed help caring for Old Odo. A great friendship grew between them, but Sam has always been in [not so] secret awe of the older [Frodo] hobbit as he once spied him speaking with an elf in his own tongue. Frodo looks fondly on Sam but sometimes can be distant to him, lost in his own thoughts.

Frodo kept Bilbo's habit of leaving Bag End open to the younger cousins who would often play in the smial and offer entertainment for the ailing Odo and Frodo who was quite fond of them. One cousin in particular became fast friends with Frodo and that was Merry Brandybuck. Frodo often found Merry's quick wit and excellent pranking skills admirable and was known to take the younger hobbit with him on his frequent walkabouts. It is often said among the cousins that Merry knew more of the ways of the world than Frodo, but it was the combination of Merry's experience and Frodo's learnedness that made them a formidable team when pranking or solving problems. Frodo taught Merry how to smoke Old Toby [pipe-weed] with flair and skill.

The youngest of the company, Pippin Took, is away from home without permission. It is said that hobbits in thier twenties are 'irresponsible' and it appears that Pippin has had an early start! He regards the older hobbits with starry eyes and great admiration. Even tho he is so young, he has already proven he can hold his own in a prank and any business the others may engage in. He is often ribbed for being the youngest but it is the ribbing of kindly older brothers. Currently, he is learning to smoke Old Toby from Merry and Frodo who find the faces Pippin pulls to be very amusing. Sam feels Pippin is too young to be going with them, but holds his own counsel as Frodo seems well-pleased to have the young Took along.
